Weekend Preview | Mainstown 1st December

Race 1 - Tattersalls Ireland 4yo Maiden

ACROSS THE CHANNEL was unlucky to come down at the final fence on his debut at Lisronagh recently when sure to be among the placings. That would leave him as a big contender for this alongside stable companions Erne River and Getmegold.

Folcano was a big eye-catcher on his debut in Turtulla when also coming a cropper at the last and is sure to step forward, whilst Junior Rattler put up a good run at Tinahely and Portrush third, Dare To Begin, represents a yard that had a winner in this age group last weekend.

Race 2 - Goffs 5yo Geldings Maiden

MUCKAMORE finished in front of two subsequent winners when chasing home Beyond Redemption at Loughanmore over a year ago. Back in pointing action, he certainly brings the strongest form into the race.

The New Kid represents a stable in form, whilst Tricky Customer and Time Leader are two horses that made the frame recently and certainly can’t be discounted in what would seem to be quite an open renewal.

Race 3 - Local Trainers, Powers Pub & Bobby Fitzgerald Winner Of One

SLEEPYSAURUS proved to be a very easy winner on his debut at Dromahane earlier in the month, and with the four-year-old allowance on his side, it could well take a big performance from one of his rivals to inflict a first defeat on him.

Moore Clouds is a spring four-year-old winner and will have the benefit of both the age and sex allowances, whilst stable newcomer Roundstone, and recent maiden winners, Ran Rite and Mr Mantilla, are others in the mix.

Race 4 - ITBA & Whytemount Stud 5yo Mares Maiden

This would look a wide-open race where SHANAVOUN LADY could be of interest on her debut as she is related to a number of winners including Casey Jones.

Deo Bellator has switched yards during the summer and makes her seasonal re-appearance, whilst the likes of Awesome Lady and Sofias Castle, who have both made the frame in the past, need to bounce back from non-completions of late.

Race 5 - ITM & Belmont Equine Ladies Open

LONGHOUSE MUSIC
got the better of Samanntom on a couple of occasions last season, most recently when the pair finished first and second at Loughrea in May, albeit in different conditions to what they are likely to encounter here. She will be looking to confirm that form in this.

Mighty Stowaway would look the big threat to the pair, as the Kinsale winner could make a quick re-appearance having finished second a top open at Kirkistown last weekend.

Race 6 - Hotel Minella 6yo Geldings Maiden (Nov Rdrs)

Track recruit ITSCATRIONASCHOICE could be one to note as he would make his point-to-point debut with a mark of 109 over hurdles to his name. He does have to overcome a lengthy absence, and the likes of Call It Time and Kildrum can expose his lack of recent race fitness, with the former having finished second at Lingstown last weekend.

Brindacier Fatal, Grey Atlantic Way and Dream Captain are others for the shortlist.
