Weekend Preview | Boulta 08th December

Race 1 - Hurleys SuperValu Midleton 4yo Mares Maiden

HUMBLE GLORY stayed on strongly on her debut to finish fourth in a big field maiden at Boulta and that could leave her as the one to beat in this, particularly as she is sure to come on for the run.

Not A Loss was supported in the market before her debut at Dromahane ensuring that she was sent off as the favourite. She is clearly well-thought of, whilst Rathcannon-fifth Found On and the Colin Bowe-trained Overnight Success are other possible dangers.

Race 2 - Hickey Bros Precast & Ryall O’Mahoney Ltd 4yo Geldings Maiden

SUNSET WEST put up a big performance on his debut at Boulta, when in a strongly run race, he stuck to his task gamely to only go down by a length to a more experienced rival. With the pair having pulled a distance clear of their other rivals, he sets the standard.

Brother Byrne and Small Bad Bob ran well before coming down in the closing stages at Tyrella and Lismore respectively, however both struggled somewhat on their latest outings, which may leave Do The Floss, who went close in a bunched finish at Knockmullen House, as the big danger.

Race 3 - Powers Gold Label 5yo Geldings Maiden

BRANDY HARBOUR outran his odds when finishing second around here last month and having already proven that it is a course that he excels around, he could get his head in front here.

There are no shortage of alternatives, with One More Life, Alaphilippe, Ask D Man, Icy Inferno and Milanford all capable of putting up big performances on what they have shown to date.

Race 4 - B&J Consultants & Cliffords Bar, Butchers & Supermarket 5yo+ Adjacent Maiden

The lightly-raced MORNINGSIDE has only two runs to his name within the last 12 months, however one of those saw him finish a fine second at Boulta on the corresponding weekend last year to ensure he is of interest in this on his return from a ten-month break.

Track recruit Baron Dy Plessus has the advantage of recent race fitness having made his stable debut in a similar contest at Ballindenisk last Sunday. The mare Rosy Story would look next best.

Race 5 - Leahys Open Farm & Hennessy Family Plant Hire Ballinascartha Winner Of Two

ALONEAMONGMILLIONS and Crossing Lines finished first and second in a top-class contest around here two weeks ago, and the pair certainly set the standard once again, with the former looking to confirm the placings from their initial meeting.

Crossing Lines is entered elsewhere and so it may be that it is left to the likes of Concrete King and Coach Road, who are both proven in this division, to offer the chief opposition.

Race 6 - East Cork Oil 5yo+ Mares Maiden

ROSY STORY went close at Kinsale at in November, and whilst she was unable to get as close around here since then, she does have the advantage of recent race fitness over what could be her main danger, Wouldbewell. She has not been seen since she chased home Velkera at Dromahane in April.

Of the others, Honest To Goodness is never usually too far away, whilst Andante Allegro put in her best performance last time at Turtulla and is going the right way.
