Weekend Preview | Belclare 15th March 2020

Race 1 - Gamut & Altruistic at Rosshill Farm 4yo Maiden

JUST A DIME
bumped into the very smart looking mare Brandy Love when making his debut at Cragmore, and that could leave him spot on for this.

Colin Bowe and Denis Murphy have won many of the four-year-old maiden races in recent weeks, and the pair are represented by two of the other likely contenders in Slievegar and Barrichello. There may not be a great deal separating the trio on what we have seen of them to date. The market will give the best guide of what to expect from the newcomers.

Race 2 - The Equine Warehouse 5&6yo Mares Maiden

VICTORIAS PEAK has been somewhat unlucky to bump into two smart looking mares at Punchestown and Borris House respectively in recent weeks. She emerged with plenty of credit on both occasions, running a particularly big race when chasing home Shiroccos Dream most recently.

She is not guaranteed to have things her own way here however, as Shanavoun Lady finished second to Katoune Tara at Borris before Christmas, and that form was certainly advertised by the winner when she finished a fine third in the point-to-point bumper at Gowran Park last weekend. Passion View is another that cannot be discounted.

Race 3 - William Donnellan M.F.H. (NGH) Mares Winner Of Two

DUBAI DAISY got within two lengths of the talented subsequent winner Mt Leinster Gold at Carrigarostig in January. Whilst she may have been no match for Chapter Two when stepping up into open company at Dungarvan, she will certainly find things much easier here.

Western Fiona may bring the best of the recent maiden winning form here following her success at Ballyvodock, as she had run well in a hot maiden at Ballindenisk in January.

Race 4 - Oranmore Lodge Hotel 5&6yo Geldings Maiden

COOTHILL has not been seen since finishing a fine third in a Turtulla four-year-old maiden in the autumn, but with the stable having had a winner at Tyrella last weekend, he may prove to be the one to side with here.

Pay The Piper disappointed at Borris House a fortnight ago, however he had been narrowly denied on his two previous outings, ensuring he is entitled to hold strong claims if putting his best foot forward. Stable companion, Mount Oscar, is another horse that has made the frame on a number of occasions, whilst Onagatheringstorm adds further depth to the race.

Race 5 - Flannerys Hotel, Galway 5yo+ Adjacent Maiden

PAY THE WOMAN has progressed in each of her two outings this season, staying on to take fourth in what was a relatively big field maiden at Bellharbour last month.

The drop in grade here should be rewarded. Those others with previous experience will need to step up on what they have shown to date, which may leave the newcomers offering more interest.

Race 6 - McNamara Construction 7yo+ Maiden

THE BONNY BOY has been knocking on the door for some time, and was unfortunate to put in two very slow jumps over the final fences at Cragmore more recently, which cost him when the ultimate margin of defeat was just two lengths.

Diegos Way must bounce back from a disappointing run at Punchestown, but he has been given a break and it may be just a case of the run coming too soon after what had been a big performance at Knockmullen House, prior to his late departure. Cemister is another that cannot be discounted.
