Weekend Preview: Mainstown 6th December

The Kilmoganny Foxhounds will be hosting the first Ladies Open Lightweight of the season with former Grade 1 winner Killultagh Vic among the entries.

Tattersalls Ireland – 4YO Maiden

Having finished second on both his outings this term GARDE DES CHAMPS would certainly look to be the one to beat in this with that experience sure to stand to him. Ruling De Roost is an improving type that comes from a stable who had an impressive winner in this age division last week, with a similar comment applying to Aucunrisque who was second at Tinahely back in October. Bold Sholokhov, Brorson and Onehundredpercent are others that will likely not be too far away.

Local Trainers – Eoin Doyle, Philip Fenton, David M O’Brien, Garrett Power, Joseph O’Brien and Kieran Purcell – 5YO Geldings Maiden

DANCE TO FAME stayed on very strongly to chase home a nice type at Turtulla last month and it would not be a surprise to see him go one better in this. Jetoile looked destined to finish a close second at Toomebridge before exiting at the last and will be seeking compensation, as too will Young Fitzy who looked set to be play a part in the finish at Boulta when coming down with two to jump.

Club House Hotel and Gerry & Dermot Cunningham – Winners of Two

FANAMIX goes in search of the hat-trick here following back-to-back victories at Tattersalls and Knockmullen House and he looks to have a very progressive profile. First Preference is very unexposed and also won on that Knockmullen House card, whilst Cut Pretender is another recent maiden winner that would have to be respected, as too would Sofias Castle as she will be in receipt of the valuable mares allowance and represents a yard that is in top form at present.

GAIN Equine Nutrition – GAIN Mares Series – 5YO Mares Maiden

Shane Obrien won a similar contest at Borris House last Sunday and will have high hopes of further success here with GLENBEG EXPRESS. She fell at the last in Boulta last month when running a cracking race against the vastly more experienced Kind Witness. She is definitely the one to beat here. Miss Mcgugen ran three times last month, twice finished second and she should be effective around a track like this, whilst Ifeoinly is another for the shortlist.

ITM & Clonmel Oil – Ladies Open

Killultagh Vic (pictured above) is a former Grade 1 winner with a victory at the Cheltenham Festival also to his name. It had been announced in April that he was set to be retired, however he features among the entries here and will be a contender if maintaining his form. STAKER WALLACE does however look the one to beat having finished fourth in the Cheltenham Foxhunters back in March and he will improve from his return run, whilst Kruzhlinin, Warriors Tale and Crosshue Boy are others with big claims.

Hotel Minella – 6YO Geldings Maiden

JEREMY CENTRAL has a perfect record of four consecutive second placed finishes and this could be a good opportunity for him to have his consistency rewarded with a very deserving maiden success. Boro Melody comes here fresh from a career best at Lingstown which he posted on his first start for current connections, whilst Dower Caves has finished placed in his two starts since changing yards.
