IHRB Point to Point Stewards Enquiry Co. Clare (H) Point to Point Meeting Sunday 20 April 2025

The Acting Stewards interviewed Ms G. Benson, rider of Ramillies, placed third, concerning her use of the whip in the latter stages of the Open Lightweight.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 58. 3.(i) in that she had used the whip without allowing or appearing to allow her mount at least three strides to respond.

Having taken her previous record into consideration, the Acting Stewards suspended Ms G. Benson for two Point to Point racedays.

The Acting Stewards interviewed Mr C.J. Costello, rider of Diamond Hunter, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of the 6yo & Upwards Geldings Maiden.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 58. 3.(i) in that he had used the whip without allowing or appearing to allow his mount at least three strides to respond.

Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Acting Stewards suspended Mr C.J. Costello for one Point to Point raceday.

Waterford (F) Point to Point Meeting Sunday 20 April 2025

The Acting Stewards interviewed Mr S.J. Butler, rider of Northernlightsky, concerning his riding before the last fence in the 5yo & Upwards Mares Maiden when his mount appeared to be fatigued before subsequently falling at the last fence.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 33 (ii)(b) (failure to pull-up a horse that had no more to give).

Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Acting Stewards suspended Mr S.J. Butler for one Point to Point raceday.

East Antrim (H) Point to Point Meeting Monday 21 April 2025

The Acting Stewards interviewed Mr N. McParlan, rider of Tamlaght Eyes, placed first, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of the Mares Winner Of Two.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of the relevant Whip Regulation.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Acting Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 58. 3.(h) in that he had used the whip with his arm being or appearing to be above shoulder height.

Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Acting Stewards suspended Mr N. McParlan for two Point to Point racedays.
