Thurles found to be unfit for racing

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board have confirmed that Thursday’s fixture at Thurles, which was due to host a maiden hunter chase, has been cancelled and will now take place on Monday March 13th.

A 7.30am inspection had been called due to the prospect of snow and the track was found to be unfit for racing when inspected.

“Following snow overnight, Thurles I now unfit for racing and the fixture scheduled for today has been cancelled,” IHRB Clerk of the Course Lorcan Wyer said.

“There was the prospect of some warmer air coming in today but that seems to be much later in the afternoon now and therefore we have been left with no choice to cancel as we are not raceable at present.”

The next hunter chase is the Tetretema Cup at Gowran on Saturday where the ground is described as Yielding, Soft in places with the possibility of up to 12mm of rain prior to racing.

The Thurles fixture reverts back to entries stage, with fresh declarations to be made on Sunday.
