Ballycotin provided Ray Cody with his first pointing success in the saddle at Farmaclaffley in 2014 in his debut season. Four winners during the 2015/16 season ensured he finished in the top five novice riders, a total he bettered with six in the 2015/16 campaign. A talented hurler who won the AIB All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship at Corke Park with Dunnamaggin in 2019, the Kilkenny native, whose uncle and namesake Ray is a trainer, has taken out a handler's license and saddled his first runner, Bythebogofcats, in October 2018.
