Brian Dunleavy rode his first winner at the age of 13 when guiding Crystal Lady to win a 14.2hh race at the Pony Racing on the beach in Courtmacsherry, Cork in July 2015. Once turning 17, the Cork native immediately took out his license to ride in point-to-points, first appearing at Turtulla in March 2019 before gaining his first victory at Ballyvodock 11 months later. The 21/22 season saw Dunleavy crowned the runaway winner of the Under-21 title with 13 wins.
