A native of Listowel, Kerry, John Mulvihill began race-riding with a Conditional Jockey's license with 47 rides under rules in Ireland largely for Charles Byrnes. It was the Co. Limerick trainer that supplied him with his first winner in the form of Hareth at Limerick in April 2017. Taking a qualified riders license, Mulvihill had his first ride in a point-to-point aboard Brynmawr for Turlough O'Connor at Dromahane in December 2019.
