Derek O’Connor is the most successful point-to-point rider of all time. Since his first points success at Killaloe in 2000, he has gone on to ride over 1,200 winners, with his landmark 1,200th winner coming at Dromahane in January 2019 aboard Nelly's Money. Aside from winning a record-breaking 11 champion point-to-point jockey titles, O’Connor has also enjoyed success at the Cheltenham Festival, in addition to his first Grade 1 winner aboard the Josooh O'Brien-trained Edwulf in the 2018 edition of the Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown. In all, he has won 41 point-to-point awards, his latest being the 2022 senior title.
