Sophie Carter began her racing career riding on the flat with English trainer Eve Johnson Houghton before coming to Ireland and working with champion handler Colin Bowe. Having made her point-to-point debut at Ballycrystal in February 2022 aboard Ballinaboola Jer for handler Liam O'Brien, it was Bowe that supplied her with an initial success in the sphere. That came at Ballingarry in May 2023 when Croi Corcra landed a mares' winners-of-three race.
